The Water Damage Before Christmas

T’was the night before Christmas in Cocoa when water ran all through the house.
Everyone’s stockings were soaked… even the presents under the tree had started to float.
What to do with this watery mess?... Oh my, not now; we have a house full of guests!
Saint Nicholas himself, will be stopping by soon. The sleigh will not cut it, he needs a pontoon.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds when droplets of water begin to fall on their heads.
Ma with her towels and me with my mop, began sopping up water; when is this all going to stop?
I opened the window and threw up the sash, to drop the wet carpet below with the rest of the trash.
When out on the roof there arose such a clatter… "What now?"... I cried out as I carried the ladder.
I got to the top and was shaking with fear, right in front of my eyes… stood a dozen reindeer.
The stomping and pawing of 48 hooves, and fat Santa in those black leather boots, had made gaping holes all over my roof.
Santa hopped in his sleigh but before heading away, he shouted “Dasher and Dancer, you will explain to Mrs. Clause why we have to file another liability claim”!!!
Santa shouted to me as they flew out of sight “Give SERVPRO a call, they’ll come out tonight”.
SERVPRO answered the phone with a cheerful holiday tone, I knew in a moment I made the right call.
They said, “We’re dispatching a crew, they’ll be there and in no time at all”. Fat Santa was right…In the blink of an eye, the green vans were onsite. The crew walked in, one with a smile and one with a grin; kind of hard to believe on Christmas eve, at quarter past 10:00.
They worked through the night to make everything right. Extracting water from rugs, then rolled them up tight.
The crew said at the shop they would hang them with care, to dry in mid-air, they’d be cleaned and returned before the new year.
We were starting to learn we had no need for concern. It didn’t take long, and our trust they had earned.
With dehumidifiers and fans and a good drying plan they explained the process in a way we could all understand.
With cookies and milk in their hands, they hopped in their vans. I heard them exclaim, as they drove out of sight “Merry Christmas! SERVPRO of Central Brevard is always on-call and we will make you feel … "Like it never even happened," at all!
